I read an article a few years back about a player that got injured during the semifinals of the French Open in tennis. However, he was up in the match, and needed just one point to win. However, he realized that he wouldn't be able to compete the next day so he withdrew allowing the people to see a French Open final. I am inspired by the sportsmanship and want to know who that was. I hope it was the French Open. Please help.

  1. It definitely wasn't the French Open semi-final. David Nalbandian was the only man in the open era to retire from his semi-final match at the French Open. He retired against Federer while trailing 6-3 4-6 2-5 at the 2006 French open.

It might've been another clay tournament or another tournament in France like the Paris Indoors Masters tournament.
