I Know

By Semper Fi Reborn

When I died

You kept me alive

By mentioning my name

And the good times we shared

The truth and the dares

We were willing to dive

Into the center of love

At the core of friendship

And encompass our hearts

I love you for that

You opened me up

Like the pages of a story

You opened me up

Still you authored

What would be my best times

How on the rainy days of life

You made my heart shine

I love you for that

For all that you feel

How you still miss me

After all of these years,

These months, these seconds,

Days, and these weeks,

I miss you hearing me speak

But don't weep

I'm right beside you

And I'm holding you closely

Love never dies

Never fades

Never ends

Each time you whisper my name

I know

  1. Hi Semper fi:

I just lost my daughter a couple of months ago, so this one really hits home for me. God Bless you my friend.                                                                                                             † Concerned Prayer Warrior †

  2. "I miss you hearing me speak" what a wonderful line.  This speaks volumes about love that will not die, even when our weak bodies do.

    Great poem!

  3. That is very beautiful and moving, Semper Fi.

    Thanks for sharing it.

  4. This would be a beautiful tribute for a friend how sensitive and loving this sounds!  Thanks for sharing it!  Cheers!

  5. That is so beautiful, it really should be framed and put with the picture of a lost loved one, God bless you sweetie!!

  6. How true and beautiful. I also think that our loved ones never die if we keep saying their names and keeping their memories alive.

It also reminds me of the victims of the Holocaust, people without a grave: their graves are their names, inscribed on monuments and uttered, each year, so that we do not forget.

  7. well, I'm crying like a little girl. This expresses exactly how much I miss my husband and how I feel him still with me...even after 7 years.

  8. There was one who died, who used to visit me from the other side.  I thought I was losing my mind, but we would talk for hours, and after each visit I would feel refreshed.  I was at the time in a loveless marraige for the sake of my son, and although I thought these visits were taking my mind, they actually were what saved it. When I finally found another true love, the visits stopped.  Is she truly dead?  Not as long as I remember her, she is not truly gone.  I sometimes speak of her as if she is alive and well, so your poem strikes a note in my heart, Thank you.
