Time

By Semper Fi Reborn

Sand is sifted through an hourglass

Hovering above the Earth

Unseen by the telescopes and satellites

Unconcerned with the blue marble

Or the goings on within her

One grain of sand

For every soul that has ever lived here

Symbolizing birth

And death

All in time

Time will not stand still

It is not captured by your wristwatch

Nor restrained in a clock

Time is a runner

A hurdler

A discus thrower

  1. A wonderful metaphor to make the grains of sand equal the number of people who have ever lived here.

The grain reminded me of the egg that waits to be fertilized.

I love that you show time as a runner, hurdler, discus thrower; I have shown time as a liar and thief.

    Excellent poetry.
