BURIED TREASURE

There is something that's hid,

That was left in a field,

It was buried there long ago.

No one now knows what, when, or why they did,

It was hidden, and it remained so.

Many years passed by that field with its treasure.

It passed on through many hands.

One day it chanced a man went to measure,

A speculator looking at lands.

Looking, he stumbled on what had been hidden,

He couldn't believe his eyes!

He covered it up, sold all he'd been given

To go and recover that prize!

What would you do for the Kingdom of Heaven,

Which so few seem to realize?

It's right here at hand!

It's yours for the digging!

Go buy that land,

And don't let it go begging!

  1. It works as a secular poem as well: "The bluebird of happiness is to be found in your own back yard."

  2. The message is the most important part of this poem, and not its layout. If you meant it to rhyme that have it do so.  A biblical parable to be sure. It needs a good revising by having the lines rhyme but please leave its important message.

    Robert

  3. "If you want to find God, look in your garden. You can dig for him there."

    George Bernard Shaw

  4. And He told them a parable..."The Kingdom of God is like a treasure buried..." well you know the rest.

    I like your update.

  5. drill on it now.
