  1. Why would an intelligent free-thinking human being ever put him or herself in the position where his or her will is overshadowed completely by some authority figure whose only authority is a rank and imagined background?

If the guy commands you to bomb a house in which you know are civilians, then s***w that. A command can never ever overrule your sense of humanity.

Killing is wrong, even if you're being paid for it by the government.

  2. You didn't say anything about whether or not he's wrong.

The important case to understand is Lytle vs. Barreme.

Even the President CANNOT issue a lawful order that exceeds his Constitutional authority, and those obeying such orders are personally responsible for the results.

  3. You have to follow orders. But if those orders CLEARLY go against the set moral boundaries of the world, than you have to defy them. Like the human rights act of 1949. Thats why the n***s at nuremburg were found guilty. Although in their defense, they didn't have a world order like we do now.

  4. Soliders have been prosecuted for war crimes for simple following orders.  I say at the end of the day, you have to be able to live with yourself.

  5. we couldn't have armed forces wo those kinds of rules could we.

yet if your conscience tells you it's terribly wrong and you don't

    obey you may suffer consequences.

so ea person in ea situation decides that for themselves.

  6. 2 words for you...

    Nuremberg trials

  8. The point of no return means your only chance lies in going ahead. To try to return is guaranteed failure.
