Silly kitty

The bed springs are squeakin',

but not from THAT

There's a great big dog

chasing a cat

The cat tried to hide

under the covers

they're bouncing around

sounding like lovers

The cat got confused

came in the wrong door

he actually lives

in the house down the road!

  1. Has anyone seen Gracie this morning?  This is so funny!  I read it to George, even he chuckled!

  2. LOL!  Reenie you're the best!

  3. Is this Magic having some fun cat time?  Must have perked her up for the day. Suggestion: something wrong with the last line - sounds off - rhyming pattern? How 'bout -

    The cat got confused

    came in the wrong door

    He actually lives

    down the road more!

If the last line was intentional - then forget this ;-) ♥

  4. That ending was awesome. I don't know why I get a kick out of something not rhyming when I'm expecting it, but I do. Nice job.

  5. I love how you always look on the brighter side of life, and the brigher side of poetry. The world has seen too many poets like me, all dismal and wishing for depth, what they need is more like you, C. S. Scotkin, and other joy filled poets who shout to the stars that life is beautiful to experience, and beautiful to write about. If I wasn't currently in a library, I would be laughing out loud. Thank you, Reenie.

  6. too fun Reenie!!

    really good i think!

  7. Wow.

    It's amazing.

But you spelt poem wrong, LOL!

    ~*STAR*~

  8. Wonderful! It reminded me of that old poem called "The Duel", about the Calico Cat and the Gingham Dog, by Eugene Field.

"the house down the road" brought to mind poet Sam Walter Foss: "Let me live in a house by the side of the road/And be a friend to man"...

Your poem combines humor, pets, and dislocation very well.

How funny, the confused cat coming in the wrong door! And ending up in bed fighting "like lovers" with a dog! lol

Very nice poem, loved the humor and rhythm! :) The title of your poem was clever!!

    ANSWER TO YOUR QUESTION:

    My lovely cat isn't missing,

    The last time I checked;

    He's still deeply sleeping

    On the backyard deck.

    He came home this evening,

    Dazed, limping, and beat;

    Spitting and heaving

As he fell at my feet.

    You told me what happened

    Now I am greatly annoyed,

That my cat had been fighting

In a bed with Old Roy.

  9. Very funny. Once my late cat, Reddy, brought me two of his buddies. We all had a great time playing.

  10. Funny. Last week, Felix learned how to lock himself in the bathroom and then cry for me to let him out.

  11. Every time I read a cat poem I think of Peter Ustinov in the movie "Logan's Run" quoting T.S Elliot's poem about the naming of cats. It is worth watching the movie just to hear him recite. Some people can turn a simple poem into a masterpiece just with their voice.
