A possible solution to help parents deal with Austic children??

Hi there,

I was looking at some of the blogs over the last few weeks inrelation to Autsim and ABA and I must say I have found this excellent website. Here it is www.developing-ability.com

They have a very good understanding of the product and the people like me who deal with Autism every day. I would encourage people to have a look at this and let me know what they think. I have bought a Bridges DVD set a few weeks back but find this web site very relevant!

If you are talking about the philosphy of Applied Behavior Analysis - it is based on cause and effect - you reward the behavior or action you want and ignore the behavior you don't want.  Done well - it works well - some groups - as with many things- get quite overthe top and a bit too much into aversion (punishing behaviors you don't want)

I would very carefully look at ANY organzation promisint miracles.  Any system that rewards the good ignores the bad and has direct instruction and time of an adult - will have similar results.

(by the way the basic core of ABA is Pavlov)

some people won't understand that 'let me know what you think' is meant to be a question and this is not just a review of a product

I am an ABA therapist and special education teacher. I wish more parents knew about it and would get intervention as soon as possible. I have seen such amazing results.

Anyone working with individuals who have autism should learn all that they can about ABA.
