A potentially competitive line-up set for the Stadium Bookmakers Maiden 480 metres Trophy
The Stadium Bookmakers Maiden 480 metres Trophy has attracted six talented hounds who have their gaze glued at the £150 prize money. The highlight entry of the race is the 4 to 1 entry, Dooneen Duke. The two-year-old has been racing at Nottingham since the
last season. He just stepped at the open level, failed miserably, and then bounced back into form in a Grade A1 that came his way the last time that he raced.
The Grade A2 500 metres flat race on 18th August, 2012 had him pepping for the open race level that was coming soon. Leading from the second spot after bursting out of the second gate had the black hound concluding the race in 30.59 seconds.
He kept the favourite entry of the race, Burnpark Royal, adrift by 4 ¼ lengths as he finished right after as the runner-up.
The L. Tuffin trained won the Grade A1 500 metres flat on 11th September, 2012 at Nottingham. Leading from the second position, the two-year-old took over the competition in 30.43 seconds. Winning by the margin of 1 ¼ lengths, Headleys Bridge’s,
two-year-old son set aside, Expert Gem.
The lucky entry has drawn the same box that he did in the last race and has a recent practice over 500 metres which can help him through 480 metres too.
He will need to counter the strong opposition tactfully, one of the entries, Crush, with the potential of swinging back into form after the recent defeat which was more of a lesson learned trip for the Crash’s two-year-old son.
Another candidate, Impala, can prove out to be threatening in a way that he might well be in the position to set up a pace that others would need to follow up.
Completing the versatile line-up for the £150 prize money tonight are Droopys Hayden, Skyline Ace and Romeo Revolution.
Many have the opportunity to improve and most are in the improved form which will help them through the trip. Not all of the entries have emerged from the same racing track and taking down such a challenge is just what they need to prove.
