  1. 50 mg/5 ml = 10 mg/ml

    That's 1%.  You always multiply the percentage by 10 to get the mg/ml.

  2. Percentages in medications generally aren't real percentages but rather "grams per deciliter." Since there's a gram in 100 ml, it's a standard 1% solution.
