  1. This would be agreat fight to watch since these two fighters are relentless and vicious sluggers, Jeffires in his prime was much faster and hit a lot harder than he did when he fought jack johnson, Foreman in his prime was stopped only once,by ali....this would be a tough one to pick because both fighters had the knock out power to knock the other out, however as Masse 745 pointed out, Foreman's size and reach would have made it difficult for Jeffries to get on the inside and land those hard punches and that would have given foreman the edge in this fight.

JO S, that was a 40 year old george foreman not Foreman in his prime, the question indicates "a prime foreman" not foreman in the nineties, please get your facts straight.

  2. The fans! Can you feel the thunder?

  3. Jim Jeffries versus

  4. There are a lot of myths about jim jeffries and very often these myths get mixed up with the facts, in his prime Jim Jeffires was probably one of the best heavy weights ever, he had power and possessed a very good chin, Foreman, is a fighter we all know, anyone who can make joe frazier look helpless ought to be respected. If these two met in their respective primes I would have to say that it could go either way however people need to keep in mind that Jeffries has never a faced an opponent like Foreman before and that could have been a problem for jeffries moreover Jim Jeffries was very similar to Frazier in temrs of fighting style he came forward using a low stance and relied on his deadly left hook to finish his fights (a technique taught to him by tommy ryan)....and we have already seen that Frazier's style is never a good idea against George Foreman, so i think Foreman would win this one by way of knock out.

  5. Foreman would knock Jeffries out in 5 rounds.

  6. Jefferies would win --- suffice it to say that I seriously doubt that Forman had the stamina to engage in the type of 25 round war that Jim had with Sharkey + after Fitzsimmons, Corbett & Sharkey lost to Jim twice ( breaking the ribs of all 3 ).....Jim offered to fight all 3 on the same night & they refused +  Sam Langford ( who along with Sharkey were probably 2 of the greatest never-heavyweight champs ) used to place newspaper ads offering to fight any man in the world except Jim Jefferies.

  7. People tend to forget that Jim Jeffries fought in a very different era in his time boxing was very similar to bare knuckle fighting, and the fights were not only brutal but lasted for more than 30 rounds, Jim Jeffries had unbeliavable stamina in his prime and his power was legendary, I have watched footage of some of his fights and read a lot about him, his fight with Fitzsimmons was incredible, this guy came back to win the fight despite having a broken nose, damaged cheek bones and gashed eye lids, i mean that's not something that we would see today! moreover he defended his title countless times and defeated all of his opponents in his prime, i think he could hang in there with foreman and score a knock out victory.

  8. george foreman would win this, as jeffries- like frazier - would not have the style to out maneuver george.......foreman in 8 rounds.

  9. Tommy K "versus" is another term for "vs"....that being said i think this fight would be similar to the foreman vs frazier fight, Foreman had the size and the reach to keep Jeffiries away, and although Jeffires could be very elusive he would have had a hard time connecting with Foreman who would have hit him with those dealy punches had he come too close, it would probably be a slugfest but in the end I think Foreman would win by knock out after a very brutal fight.

  10. MR T!!!

  11. Wow what a great match!  Two big men with tremendous power.  Jeffries of course fought in an era where endurance and stamina were key to winning fights that often went beyond 20 rounds.  Jeffries fought out of a crouch and was surprisingly fast for a big man.  He could take a good punch and had a very good left hook.  Foreman is one of the hardest punchers in boxing history and also very strong.  There is no size advantage or strength advantage for either man.  Foreman is the harder puncher and Jeffries has the better stamina so this makes for one heck of a fight.  The old saying is that styles make fights and I have to believe that Jeffries would have a difficult time beating Foreman unless the fight went beyond 10 rounds.  This is my scenario of this fight.  Both men come to ring center and meet each other with hard punches with Jeffires landing more frequently with his.  Foreman would roar back against the tough Jeffires with damaging punches of his own.  This fight would go like this for the first 6 rounds with neither man giving an inch.  Jeffries would look to take big George out in round 7 and really giving him a battering when George suddenly unleashes a vicious uppercut that sends the big man down.  Jeffries rise to his feet but is visably shaken.  Foreman then pours it on until the referee mercifully halts the contest with Foreman the winner by 7th round technical knockout.

  12. George Foreman

  13. i would have to go with jim jeffries.forman had away of just swinging at air until he landed.jeffries once ko'd someone with a jab.jeffries was also big as h**l

  14. Taking the fighters as they are, this is not hard to call.   I like to take into consideration the changes in the times between past and present champions.   However,  in the case of these two,  not much needs to be changed.

The rules should be closer to today's rules as they have gotten better for the sport and safety of the fighters.   I do still agree with the 15 round distance in determining the worth of champions.  Twelve or 15 wouldn't make a difference with these two.  Who's going anywhere.   You have two big trucks colliding in the middle of the highway.

For all his flaws,  Big George still looks very modern compared to the way Big Jeff fought.  He would try to take out George with every blow and George would do the same.  This fight would be a shoot-out, similar to Forman vs Lyle.

Any puncher would look slow, throwing hooks and uppercuts against Ali's straight jabs and crosses.  George looked slow against Ali but he wasn't as slow as some think.  He just didnt throw his punches correctly.  Big Jeff didn't either.

You have two HUGE punchers swinging for the fences.  George is just swinging a little faster.  He scores the first and second knockdowns before round 2 is over.    Jeff gets up.

In round 4, when George is beginning to slow down a bit,  Big Jeff lands his own bomb.  Down goes George.   George is up on shaky legs and, after the 8 count,   Jeff puts him down again.  It doesnt look like George will make it but, somehow he peels himself off the canvas.

Both men are very winded now.  Jeff has never been hit like this and George has never had this much trouble keeping a man down.  Round 4 is spent mainly with both fighters trying to land the big one but also trying to catch a second wind.  George hurts Jeff just before the bell.

In round 5 Jeff makes a last attempt to take George out.  He lands a right to the chin but George shakes it and lands his own.  Jeff is stunned by an uppercut inside.  He stumbles back and George moves in and lands a clubbing right, left uppercut, right uppercut and a left as Jeff is on the way to the canvas.  He struggles to rise but the referee beats him to it.

    Forman by KO in 5
