Question:

A proposal for SA regulars; what's your view?

Hate them or love them, some regulars here are ‘the heart and soul’ of this section.

One of them left a few days ago. We are now left with Alf, Bull and Ayiza to hot up issues. Then we have Darth Vader who is always highly informative. We can’t forget Cakes, Inno and Lise. While it used to be like entering Bagdad (or is it Harare) at the height of the skirmishes involving Zim, Alf and Bull, but they always found a way of respecting each other’s right to their opinions. Bull and Zim even wagered. Seems Zim’s decision to leave made him lose out on a sure win.

I suggest that in honour of the people mentioned above, we create awards to be given on Mondays – based on the previous week’s questions and answers (one in each category) voted by us. MJ and Heavy can be moderators.

Cabuzi (from Cake, Alf, Bull, Zim) Award for best question

Dial (from Darth Vader, Inno, Ayiza, Lise) Award for best answer.

What do you think?

  1. I have great admiration for the people you mentioned, but I do not agree with your award system. I know they make a great contribution, but we all work hard to make this forum a success. I would also like to know what makes a person a regular here.

It would be a nice idea to have an award for the silliest or funniest answer. It can be called "Domkop of the Week", or something similar. Rather have something fun. Those are way too serious for me.

*It is not my intention to make small change of anyone's achievements here.

Add: Thanks Slipper man. That award I mentioned will spend most of it's time between you and zxcv.

Add: I think it is obvious that such an award would not only be given to those it is named after. What I meant by my statement is that there are quite a lot of good contributors on this forum that I see as regulars who bring something more to the table, not only 8. People like Res, cheri, zxcv, Slipper man, Barend, Nay, Road Runner and Cat, to name but a few. Apologies to those I can't remember right now.

  2. ya ya ya whatever regular or not,who cares

  3. I think some of the others have misunderstood you Pitso, am I correct to say that the awards will only be called Dial and Cabuzi and necessarily be given to the ones whose names make up the awards name?

If so that is a good idea, I will 2nd you and 2nd the 2 moderators you have named too.

  4. LOL!!! Okay, I am a moderator and am open to all forms of bribery and corruption in the spirit of Zuma and Mugabe...LOL!!! Anyway, don't forget Doos of the Week either!!!!

  5. While I respect the participation of all of the Regulars you have mentioned - it concerns me that the only time you post a question is to tell us how you fear that regulars will leave this section...

If they want to leave - I wish them well it's their choice and if their hearts aren't in it anymore - they made the right decision...

Perhaps you should take the opportunity to participate on a more proactive basis?

I still find this section interesting and entertaining - and I think discounting the participation of "newer regulars" - like Hennie, Barend, s****., Cat, Skylie etc. is not a fair reflection of the effort put in....

    *ADD*

Sorry Lark - left you out!! - and anybody else!!!

  6. I have no interest in something like that. I am more interested in what they have to say than attend a prize giving.

We are awarding here on a daily basis, how much more do we need? I like the funny one's that are posted on the spur of the moment by some people. But choosing a day? No.

  7. I can go along with your proposal. We have a number of people on this forum who keeps this place interesting and meaningful. Some with reasonable good debate and thought and others to stir things somewhat.

  8. Yes i think it is a positive way to show our appreciation for all their contributions
