Question:

A proposed amendment?

to the Constitution has been introduced in Congress recently. The amendment calls for a change in the qualifications for the Presidency. It proposes to change the “natural born” qualification to “any U.S. citizen.” This means a person who is not born in the U.S. but is made a citizen by naturalization could run for President. What do you think of the proposed change? Can you think of any good and bad points about the change?

  1. Yes I can think of many things why this would not be good for our Country.  Our Congress needs to LEAVE OUR CONSTITUTION ALONE, period.  By not having a "natural born citizen", anyone who applies for citizenship could become the President.  Not so good when you think there are "sleeper cells" in this Country, and MANY WHO DO WISH THIS COUNTRY HARM.

I say OUST ALL THOSE POLITICIANS who would even THINK OF CHANGING OUR CONSTITUTION THIS WAY!!!!!!!!!!

    WAKE UP AMERICA

  2. I agree totally.  This would be a great step forward for America.  There are people who come here every day fleeing oppression, poverty, etc. in search of the American Dream and a better life.  They probably know more about this country's history, and have more love and respect for it than most of natural-born American citizens, because of the conditions they fled.  I see no reason why we should deny naturalized citizens the right to be President.

  3. i think we should leave it alone. not any us citizen. its easy enough to be a naturalized us citizen, (one one parent us citizen, or born on us soil, etc) and i can see very bad things happening such as undercover terrorist group members becoming candidates n being top govt officials. besides, citizens can be senators, congressmen, governors, etc. just leave it like the founding fathers intended!

  4. As much as I like Schwarzenegger I still don't like the idea of foreigners moving here and gaining high political office, even at the state level.  I damned sure don't want to see it in the white house.
