My son has been diagnosed with ADHD, and someone was telling me that he could get a disability check for this disorder. Is this true, and how would I find out how to apply for it?

  1. Your son will not be eligible for Incapacity Benefit (IB).

  2. i highly doubt he can get $$$ but he can get extra help and even someone to just keep an extra eye on him at school. talk to your special education teacher at your teachers school. she can be allot of help!

  3. Yes I've heard of it, you need something in writing stating his diagnosis, then call the social security office they are able to answer most questions regarding disability, I know it's on a case by case basis...Good luck

  4. Getting Social Security is not easy, especially for something other than a physical disability.  You have to prove that his or her condition is impairing him  or her to a high degree.  How you apply??? is to visit a Social Security office near you and ask for an application, that is the first step, then take it from there.  If you feel that your child is qualified and are denied then contact a lawyer or binder & binder, they are really great, they helped a friend of mine in the past and they were very happy with them.  Good luck
