  1. your doctor should put you on clomid straight away if you ask because you have been trying for over a year and you are young. if you are not ovulating it's usually the first fertility pill a doctor will presbribe, (don't know if normal gp can though), but a fertility specialist definently will

how do you know you don't ovulate ?

a doctor who knows you have been ttc for over a year will investigate further and prescribe what they think will benefit you, i agree that clomid will, only because i know alot when it comes ttc and the first course of treatment they start off with,

    goodluck to you

  2. Clomid is very inexpensive, less than $20 for a month's supply.

However, you are wrong to say that your doctor has to do what you ask. She will only give you what she feels is appropriate for you. Are you certain you are not ovulating? Have you been charting temps or had blood work done to confirm? What is your doctor's plan of care for you? How long are you supposed to be on Met before you move on to other forms of treatment. I recommend that you have a talk with your doctor and ask for a plan of treatment. If you are seeing an ob-gyn, it might be time to ask to be referred to a reproductive endocrinologist.

There are many reasons for infertility, Clomid only treats one of them. It is not a miracle pill.

Edit: If you've been trying for one year then you should be referred to a fertility specialist.

  3. at the most $20 - $25 dollars, my insurance doesn't cover it I have been on Metformin for 6 months and this is my fourth month on Clomid. I am currently taking 150 mg, but don't give up hope if it doesn't happen immediately with Clomid, sometimes it takes up to 6-8 months. The risks with clomid are cycsts on your ovaries, which the doctor will monitor. Also you could experience some weight gain, headaches, mood swings, hot flashes etc. etc. If you suggest this to your doctor, she should agree. I suggested it and I'm only 20. My doctor had no objections at all. He was actually happy to prescribe them. Also you might want to go to an OBGYN or Fertility Specialist if you aren't already. Hope that everthing works out for you.

  4. I'm also on Metformin ER and just started Clomid 2 days ago.  My side effects from the Metformin are horrible, the Clomid just makes me very dizzy.  I have to take it right before bed in order to be able to function.  The clomid was $ 30 for 5 pills for me.  Not covered under any insurance.  I had to have a recommendation from an endocronoligist before she would write the prescription for it.

  5. I just finished up with clomid, as I am now a happy 8 weeks prego! The costs ran around $35 per month. Good luck! It is the most inexpensive infertility drug.

  6. Wow, I got mine at Walmart for $9.
