A question about DVD and VCR player/recorder.?

How can you tell if your player, that plays both DVD and VHS also records? I mean I'm pretty sure it does record, since I believe there is a record button on it. But would that be the type of 'recorder' that is needed to convert a VHS onto DVD, or is a 'DVD and VCR player/recorder' something completely differenet. And if not, how would one go about doing it?

In case you couldn't tell, I don't have a lot of electronics know how.

  1. It sounds like you have a VHS recorder/ DVD player unit.  A unit like that will not convert a VHS tape into a DVD.  What you need is a VCR recorder/DVD recorder.

If you let us know the make and model it should be easy to research online what type you have.

  2. yes you should be able to record to your vcr, but maybe only from the tv, to vcr. try it.

the way I do it is, I have 2 vcrs hooked together, to dubb. And I also have one vcr hooked to my RECORDABLE dvd player, then I can record from tv and record to  vcr and to dvd.

to make a dvd movie. i have 2 reciordable dvd players.buy one they R handy! make sure its a DIVX! not a regular player recorder. if you get good enough, you can put 5 movies on one dvd, but using your pc....another story.  p.s.when you buy a recordable player) record 3 movies to vcr, SLP)Then when done, hit record on your recordable dvd player. but first go to settings set it for 6 hrs SLP and you can put all 3 movies on one dvd. 4.7 gigs etc.

tune you vcr to receive all channels before you record from the tv.
