Question:

A question about GLOW STICKS?

I'm making a heart out of glow sticks, and gluing it to a poster for a concert.

I'm gonna have to glue it on before the concert, and I was just wondering if it's going to glow by the time the concert starts since it's been out of the case for that long.

I won't activate the glow stick [break it, shake it, etc] until the show actually starts, but will it work since they've been out for at least a day?

  1. Cylume - the ingredient in glow sticks requires the mixing of the two chemicals to start the glowing process.

Once they are mixed the glow will continue with increased dimming for about 4 hours.

The glowing can be stopped by freezing, best done with dry ice as most freezers are not cold enough to freeze this chemical.

  2. if you make a heart, wouldn't you have to bend em? I would wait til you have about 10 minutes before leaving, then use hot glue. It dries fast. Then they will still be glowing bfull blast for the concert. leaving them out doesn't do any harm. Break/shake them to activate em.

  3. As long as you don't break and shake them, you should be fine. Them being out of the case won't do any harm to them.
