  1. wow can't beat the answer above mine...however just for fun...do you remember the riddle of the sphinx?  If you can correctly answer the riddle (if not already) i bet your teacher will be amazed.  If you haven't discussed the riddle yet in class....contact me and I'll let you know the solution to the riddle.

  2. You do know what an allusion is, right? An allusion is referencing a person, place, event or work (literary, musical or art), et cetera. If I were to say to you, "Chocolate is my Achilles heel" that would be a mythological allusion. Most that are familiar with Greek mythology know that Achilles' weak spot was his heel, so I would be alluding to chocolate being my weakness.

There are many mythological allusions made in Oedipus Rex. Any of the gods/goddesses of mythology (in this case, Greek), and any of the places that played roles in Greek mythology that are mentioned in Oedipus Rex would be a mythological allusion. Zeus, Apollo, Athena, Artemis, and Amphritite are deities that are named in the play that you can use as allusions. Or the blind prophet Tiresias. The Fates are also mentioned. For a place you could give Delphi, where the great Oracle was located. These are just a few examples.

  3. The whole play is based upon Greek mythology, so there are many more than just 3 references to mythology in it. Just cite the first references you find to gods.
