A question about Tea Tree Oil (for anyone that uses it)

Do you use it? And does it cause a bit of redness when you apply it to your skin? I broke out in a few pimples yesterday and I decided to try Tea Tree Oil and it seems to be working but my chin is red from using it. Is this normal?

  1. I use it quite a bit and i have never had this problem. It may be that you are sensitive to it. Try using a lower concentration oil. You can dilute it in a base oil such as almond oil. Or try distilled witch hazel, this works just as well as tea tree.

  2. ur skin must be fair,, i use it neat but the instruction says to dilute.. if it stings it is too strong

the best way is to add a few drops to a bowl of hot water and steam ur face, wonderfully refreshing..

oh and if u have mosquito bites, lavander oil to ur bites is wonderful too and aids good sleep!!

  3. Tea Tree oil is very strong,

If you have sensitive skin try applying Tea tree oil with other products such as tea tree oil with moisturiser in it, this will help.

Tea tree oil is designed to dry up your pimples and therefore may be making the area you put it on a lot more dryer, so you should really moisturise that area regularly after.

Try not to use Tea tree too often especially if its just the oil by itself as it can damage your skin and only use it on the pimple.

It also only really helps moderate acne, please ask your doctor for more advice or creams if you have severe acne.

    I hope i helped xx

  4. I use tea tree oil, but don't get the redness that you speak of.

Are you using it neat?  Try diluting it with a bit of water.  It may just be that you're sensitive to it.

  5. Tea tree oil didn't work for me, I used surgical spirits and that cleared my face up.

  6. I have really sensitive skin so I mix mine with Jojoba oil. jojoba oil dissolves sebum and is good moisturizer that won't clog pores. I run in a couple drops morning and night.

Every now and then I do apply direcly to the spot if its bad enough. It works so well to clear my skin I don't mind a tad bit of redness.
