Question:

A question about UK or European point of view

In America, most baby boys are circumsiced at their parents request even though there often is no religious or medical reason.

However in the UK and Europe less than 15% of males are circumsiced and the ones that are, are usually for religious/medical requirements.

So I am just curious what your opinion is of male circumsicion and whether in your country it is frowned upon or considered okay...

  1. No one frowns upon it, unless like you say, it's a religous matter I guess, some religions make it a rule to have it done.

My son is 20months old, and I haven't got him done, I guess if he wants that, he can decide when he is old enough, although I don't think many older men will willingly have this done OUCH ! lol

  2. BRITAIN: A Man's todger is his own private kingdom and should not be discussed on here!

  3. To some degree I can understand doing it for a religious reason but why you would want to mutilate a baby boy is totally beyond my understanding.

You would have to be some sort of monster to do it.

If the man wants to do when he gets older. That's his choice.

  4. am originally african, and in africa male must get circumcised, my opinion on this is, its okey for circumcised an uncircumcised as they all d**k and they all ***, av dated a circumcised male and a non one, i feel the same..

  5. Circumcision isn't really frowned upon but I know all my friends that had parent's that made the choice for them when they were born want it back!

  6. My ex boyfriend is sort of Jewish. He himself doesn't believe in anything, and neither did his parents, but they felt like it was a part of their culture more than a religious thing.

When we were discussing having children, he said that he would want our sons to be circumcised, so that they would be the same as him and his dad. I researched it online, and came across some quite horrific information about it, including a video of it being performed.

One of the things that shocked me most was that they don't anaesthetise the baby as the drug could kill it. So imagine that one.

I told him that, if he watched those videos and could handle that, then I would agree to it.

    He couldn't stomach it.

Either way, we broke up without having had children, so it never became an issue.

    --Edit--

Also, my dad was circumcised when he was 10. The doctor said it should be considered as a last resort, but my gran said it seemed easier, so choppety chop. My dad still hasn't forgiven her for that decision- and he's now 68.

  7. I always thought circumsicion was a Jewish ritual. It is not frowned upon just deemed unnecessary.

  8. As far as I'm aware boys are only circumcised for religious or medical reasons in this country.  Generally it's seen as unnecessary and pointless and certainly I wouldn't do it to any child of mine - I don't really understand why it's so popular in the States.

  9. I had not given it a second thought until I read an article about it.i live in the UK have 2 sons & they were not circumcised. If it has to be done for medical reasons then fair enough if not it should be banned.

  10. Im in the UK (Scotland) and I don't know anyone who has had their son circumcised.  I don't see any need for it as I'm not religious and there were no medical reasons for it.

I wouldn't really frown upon it, but I don't really understand the need for it either.

  11. Ew without circumsicion it looks gross. It like has a flap without it. I wouldn't understand though why it would be "frowned upon".

  12. Here in the UK it is uncommon to be circumcised. I wouldn’t say it is "frowned upon" but it is certainly a curious thing to see or discuss.

Just to give you an example, I am not circumcised, and neither is my dad or my brother. My twin cousins were born last year and they weren’t circumcised. Out of my group of 7 best friends, I don’t think any of them are circumcised, but one is Jewish so he probably is.

I don’t really get why its popular in america. No other 1st world country does it unless it’s a religious or medical issue like you said…

edit: that guy that had his sons circumcised to fit in, that sounds wrong, man! what if your sons had ginger hair...would you dye them brown for the same reason..?

  13. I had my two (American) sons circumcised for exactly one reason: so they would like like the other boys. Life can be brutal when you're young and you're different.

  14. Probably because in the US hospitals are private and it's something else the doctors can bill for.

Alternatively it could just be a fashion statement, like the way you chop the ears and tails off your dogs

  15. I like a man who is uncircumcised. A lot more fun.

  16. germany i had it done because i think it is hygienic and did not want to have them deal with infections caused by not cleaning properly

  17. I'd only do it for medical reasons, otherwise I'd leave a little boy as nature intended.
