called Agnus Castus.....

I have heard about Agnus Castus helping relieve PMS and believe me I suffer with severe PMS so I thought I'd give it a try. I've been taking the tablet every day for just over 2 weeks. The thing is, is that I feel like I'm going to get my period soon. Can Agnus Castus make a female get her period sooner than planned? I am having slight cramping in my ovaries etc...

  1. i don't know about the herb thing but have u tried magnesium for the pms? i take 1000mg each day (2 in the am, 2 at dinner) of it the week i think it will arrive and the week during and it helps with the headaches and cramps. but i also got an implantable birth control called imlpanon because i was stl getting ill and now the only symptom i have is the craving of chocolate!

  2. Yes, Agnus castus may cause extra periods and some changes in rhythm for a while. It acts on the hormones that control the monthly cycle (lutenising hormone for example) so that's why.

After a while (2 or 3 cycles) the irregularities will stop and you'll get less PMS and other symptoms. In fact, the change in your cycle is probably an indication that the herb is going to work. :)

  3. this herb is good for balancing hormones and will promote menstruation. Your body is going through changes as this herb gets into your system.

This link goes to a site that has a lot of information, both historical and clinical.

It has been used for a long time in treating women.  Different research has shown different results, and different side effects.

The link also mentions some other medications tested for PMS.
