Is there e psychological disorder or illness or something that would cause someone who is very intelligent to consistently act like they are not as intelligent. For example, someone who gets straight a's their whole life but act like they cant understand simple direction and other things

  1. You mean, act like they can't understand it or really cannot understand it?

    Because if it was a problem where the person actually can't understand simple direction, it could be ADD.


  2. I don't think that's a psychological disorder.

    Perhaps it is an extreme form of pretending to be dumb so that the person is not harassed due to being quite smart.  It is also possible that the person has some areas of ignorance.  High intelligence and good grades doesn't guarantee that a person knows everything.

  3. some people are really book smart but lack common sense. i'm not saying you're one, but it is fairly common.

    another possibility..if you are "acting" like you don't know the simple things, but you really do, is that you are afraid people will view you as a "know it all" so you act dumb out of a fear of being disliked or judged. That is also pretty common among smarter groups of people.
