  1. there are some that can go to college-get mainstream jobs-don't knwo where to get numbers-

there was an actor named chris burke and a book caled count us in about successful people with down syndrome-

do you specifically mean business-or any  non work shop job-some work successfully as aids in schools, hospityals, libraries, restaurants, etc...

if anyone would know it would be the national org

    http://www1.ndss.org/

  2. It depends on their level of ability. There are some higher functioning adults that are able to live in a group home or apartment, catch a bus to work, and generally take care of themselves, with some supervision. They usually have service type jobs, such as bagging groceries, stocking shelves, cleaning, or some type of simple workshop job.

I would suggest that you contact the special education director at a high school and talk with them about where their graduates work. They could give you the name of some workshop sites or residential homes to contact for statistics for your article.

  3. Considering the disorder affects the development of the individual's intelligence and understanding, I imagine not a great number of people with Down's Syndrome make it in "the real business world", sadly.
