A question about becoming involved in acting?

I'm becoming new to acting, but are there any good ways to get involved in acting? All I know about is the annually school musical and I was just wondering if there are any tricks to finding movies, plays, etc. around my area.

here are auditions EVERYWHERE!! Go online search around, you will find something. Have some headshots and a resume ready, try to get involved in theater, try some summer plays, take courses on it, go to college for acting. Get an agent then get started. Hope this helps
