Hi! After 5 years of smoking (am 25 male), finally quit cold turkey and started hitting the gym and jogging. After a the first couple hundred meters jogging at the tartan track, my breathing becomes unregular and agitated-- is there a way to bring it to normal again? (while jogging) or should I just stop and call it a run?

Thanks a lot.

  1. This program works wonders, once completed you have a strong foundation, you can branch off into whatever style you want: sprinting, endurance, hurdles. I got to 25 minutes straight, but then I hurt my knee.

  2. Your lungs are out of shape from all the smoking you did. It will take some time start out slow and try to slowly increase how far you can run everyday. Overtime you will notice yourself getting stronger internally and externally.

  3. well if you just started exercising, then you're body is not yet used to all the work. you should take it one step at a time. starting out with a jog is a good start. for me, i can breathe better through my nose than through my mouth. the fact that you smoked may be a factor of why you have irregular breathing patterns while jogging, but hopefully that'll clear up after you've jogged for awhile. if it doesn't clear up, i would suggest asking a physician or a trainer.

  4. When your breathing becomes irregular, that means you are over-exerting yourself.Just stop in your tracks, bend over, that is till your trunk, with face down and breath in and out with great force through your open mouth and your tongue dangling out.Just like a dog. This brings back your breath back to normal very soon and cools you down. Then you can again continu jogging.Otherwise it can cause a strain on your heart

  5. no dont stop running mabe ur breathing was missed up while u were smoking and u didnt know it till u stopped and it returned to normal hope this helps
