My brother and I get on the same chat room. He uses the desktop comp. i use my laptop. he likes to be rude occasionally. so he gets banned. I prefer no one know I know him. but when he gets banned it bans me as well. I guess because we have same Ip adress. My questions is. can i somehow mask the IP on my laptop so this wouldn't happen. like it show different ips? please answer only if you can be helpful and know what your talking about.

  1. You are going through a router.  The IP address that the chat room sees is the IP address of your router.  You would need some computer somewhere to proxy your traffic.

Why don't you go to his desktop computer and block traffic to/from the chat rooms?  You can always add a route to the chat room's IP address to go through 127.0.0.1 (a "loop back" address that doesn't go anywhere - effectively packets he sends there will never go anywhere).
