I recently read that Chimps and Humans are mostly Blood Type "O" & "A"...
In Humans, "O" is 46% worldwide, while "A" is 39%. Chimps are mostly "A", but have no "B", whereas all Gorillas are Blood Type "B" with no "O" or "A"...
Humans are only 11% "B"...
This could provide supporting evidence, as to why we are genetically closer to Chimps than to Gorillas...
Another thought about the RH-factor of blood, is that RH-Negative seems to have been contributed to us from Neanderthals, and although only 15% of the human poplation is RH-Negative, this would indicate a certain amount of cross-mating would have to have occurred, to pick up this recessive trait, even though many other traits may have been erased...
What say you?
