If you were to sell T shirts with pictures of bands, tv shows, musicians and other celebrities etc. (producing the t shirts yourself) Would you need a copyright license to print them?

  1. Depends. Nothing to prevent you from photographing celebrities for yourself and producing a T shirt with that picture on it. Might be tricky to get a good picture... but perfectly legal, in public at least.

What you do need a license for is using photographs, tv stills and trademarked names which aren't yours.

It is actually still possible to get in trouble for using slightly altered brand stuff - because the mark you use might be sufficiently close to be confused with the real brand.

  2. yep

  3. Legally yes - chances of getting sued without one, unless your Walmart or selling pirate goods at their concert, slim.

  4. Yes, and that's trademark not copyright.

  5. Yes unless you alter it slightly. like names like "britney spears" to "britany spears" etc.
