A question about custom content for Sims 2 (PC)?

I upload many items from modthesims2.com (mostly furniture and clothes) and when I load my game, it freezes up on the loading screen. Is there anyway to fix this?

  1. If your game used to work fine, and only started freezing after you added a lot of cc, there are 2 possible problems.  If the game freezes, but then eventually does load, you most likely have more cc than your computer / game can handle.  Delete any cc that you don't use, looks ugly, etc.  If the game freezes, and never loads, or you get an "application has terminated" message, you most likely have a piece of bad or incompatible custom content.  If you got it all from MTS2, I'd say that it is most likely incompatible.  Even though an item may only have the icon for the base game, sometimes in the creator's description, it will say something like "uses FreeTime mesh" and if you don't have FreeTime, that download will not work with your game.

First try removing ALL you custom content.  You can move the contents of your downloads folder to your desktop, and try starting the game.  If it loads, you have an incompatible piece.  Add your cc back in a few files at a time, and re-load the game.  Eventually you should be able to locate and delete the problem file.  You will also learn some valuable lessons.  1st, read all instructions before downloading something.  2nd, don't install a bunch of new cc all at once, just in case something does not work with your game.

  2. the custom contents you put in the game is  causing it to freeze up  you never add all at once u need to check each one to see if they work or mess up your game  for now take them out and put on desk top in a  file you well see your game work better

  3. take the things off

  4. Either

remove most or some of your mods.

    lower your graphics settings.

buy more RAM for you computer.

    or try reinstalling your game.

  5. Unfortunately not all hacks work with the game or other hacks. You have to be sure of this when you're downloading hacks. Also you can use the SIMS CLEAN INSTALLER to install items.

Remove the downloads folder and restart the game see if ti works. If it does it's definitely something that you've downloaded. Just remember where you put the downloads folder.

Try not to download so much c**p in the game b/c that also tends to ruin it. You really don't need that much.

  6. you might have to take it off because some of that custom content they make or w/e are made with other expansion packs and you probably don't have the expansion packs they have...they have a feature on there (on the left screen when you're searching for stuff) where you could choose which games you have and when you go to search for something, you'll know it will work with your game and it wont crash.
