A question about cutting scars?

Do they fade over time? Lets say from 2006, if you never had cut again would the scars have faded/gone white by now?

Are most recent scars red coloured?

Someone please enlighten me.

  1. It all depends on how deep you cut.  Shallow, superficial or minor cuts will probably heal commpletely over time, but deep ones will probably not.

I cut quite deeply (about 8mm in) as a teenager and my body is riddled with hideous scars, that are big, blotchy and white, although they did look pink for the first few years.    I have them all over my arms, stomach and legs, and they have now prevented me from wearing short sleeved tops, trousers and I can't go swimming any more and me cutting have achieved nothing in making me feel better about my self.

Of course it goes to say that your friend should not be cutting, please tell them there are plenty of things that they can do, like talk to you for example.  I found blasting angry metal music and having a good scream into pillows helped wean me off cutting myself, although difficult to do.  I hope your friend stops and finds a more effecrtive way to ease his emotional pain.  Good luck. :)

The last time I cut was about ten years ago by the way.

  2. i dnt no it depends i think on how deep my sister still has like marks on her arms from cutting ages ago but there not that noticable so hers faded but they wasnt that deep so it depends i guess

  3. most scars will fade in about 2 years, but it depends on the type of scar, some will always be red and raised sadly...

  4. It depends on how deep the cuts were. Shallow ones will fade completely over time. Deeper ones will last longer.

I have cuts that are about 5 years old and still visible. They went from purple to pink to white, and they are subtle, but still there. I will have them for life.
