A question about dual-boot?

I have Windows Vista on my computer.

And I have a 120GB hard disk, partitioned in to two.

One is 109 GB and the other is only 1GB.

How can I make it to 70GB is to 40GB without erasing data?

My plan is that to make the other 40GB partition to windows xp.

I want to have dual/multi-boot computer.

Is it possible to shrink my primary disk to 70GB? then, install windows xp on the 40GB partition? w/o erasing data?

I'm worried about this line in Windows Help and Support:

If you are installing different versions of Windows, you must install the earliest operating system first. For example, if you plan to create a multiboot computer using both Windows 2000 and this version of Windows, you must install Windows 2000 first. Doing otherwise might render your computer inoperable.

Does this line means I dont have a chance but to reformat my hard disk?

My problem is I dont have a storage for back-uping my files! =(

Please help!

  1. you cant re-partition the 109GB drive without formatting it.

I have duel booted PCs and installed the new version first and the older one second with no problems.

But if ya doing them both at the same time just follow the MS guide lines.
