Everyone knows none of these is a viable, long-term solution but is it possible that a combination of Ethanol, Clean Coal, and existing nuclear energy could serve as a bridge between our current dependency on oil and our future of solar, wind and other types of renewable energy? Could these things not be used to REDUCE our dependency on foreign oil thus benefiting our foreign policy as well as reducing greenhouse gas emissions?

  1. Yes.

  2. Ethanol is not the answer.  Advancement of nuclear energy techonology, especially in researching how to dispose of the waste is a desirable objective.  Harvesting methane as a byproduct of waste disposal is another source that is overlooked and under-researched.

  3. Thats what they are doing now.
