Im planning on buying a video camera for stop motion animation..

It says it cant USB stream, but it can be connected to a fire wire.

My PC doesnt have a firewire connection, so if i buy a firewire to usb connecter, will it work?

Will this work with any video camera if it has a firewire connection

(because firewire is quicker ive heard.)

THANKS!

  1. USB2.0 is slightly faster than Firewire. Firewire was created when USB 1.0 was the only thing out and it just simply wasn't fast enough for video editing. However, most video cameras still use firewire.

You could buy a USB to firewire adapter but I wouldn't. They cost $120 and I'd be a little wary of how well they perform. Instead, I'd buy a firewire ad-on card for your computer. You can get them for $40 and they're pretty easy to install. All you need to do is open up your computer and plug it into one of your PCI ports.
