I was wondering if I can give up my parental rights and not have to pay child support. Does anyone know what the law is on that in Somerset PA?

  1. I'm sorry but.... you'd give up your own children in order to avoid paying support?

  2. in most states the only way a man or woman can give up parental rights and avoid child support is if the mom or dad remarries and the new person adopts.  without that it can't be done. states do not want to pay your share of obligation. if you don't do it they will have to. unless of course a real man/woman comes along and wants to step up to your plate

  3. Interesting for a woman to be asking this question...

  4. Thats usually how it goes, Im not sure about PA, But here in OH thats what it is, If you give them up, The child support goes with it. Why would you do that? Your child needs his/her Mom..

  5. no that would be horrible. Guess it was a bad idea to get knocked up huh

  6. Your best bet would be to see a lawyer about that one. Just set up a free consultation and see what the options are. In the event of a divorce, You can give the other parent MANAGING CONSERVATOR power, wherein you surrender your parental rights, but even that doesn't excuse you from paying child support. America did a great job making laws that keep "baby daddies" and "baby mommas" from denying their children decent living environments.

  7. It goes with everywhere, once you give up your parental rights and responsibility than you don't pay child support, you don't see the child etc...The child would be a random child on the street that you will never be apart of his/her life...

  8. I have no idea, but maybe contact a lawyer and ask? I did find this on a quick search.

  9. why would you do that to your child?

  10. why the h**l would u give up ur child?

  11. you would have to kill me before i would give up rights to my child.

no matter what the circumstance. now if the child is a teen and a pain in the @$$ I could understand some people doing it. but I would never give up on my kid even still.

  12. I'm torn between telling you how horrible you are or just being glad that you are not going to be part of that innocent child's life.

  13. good for you not everyone who has a child will be a good parent and at least your not using your child for state aid and ruining there lives

  14. if you can afford internet you can afford to pay for kids... the only way i know is if the kids are a constant burdon to you and threaterning your life, but as it sounds like you dont even live with them, tought luck. should have used a rubber

  15. If you give up your rights you do not have any claim what so ever to your child anymore. So no you would not have to pay child support, but you do have up to a year to change your mind.

  16. I nominate you for mother of the year!
