I will take NASAs numbers to any other source on the planet, and they are fervently pro global warming.

  1. I live by the 45th parallel and its cold up here, let me tell you. I wouldn't mind a bit of Global Warming. I am hoping the world will warm up about 20 or 30 degrees so the ground will thaw out enough for me to plant some vegetables.

Gore makes a lot of promises, but he just isnt pulling through on this one. We need more warmth, Gore!

  2. Well, I have thought about the science and economical implications of Global Warming, and there are points to both, however, does not make me a skeptic on the fact we are ruining our planet.  For sure auto, appliance, heating, many other industries are going to exploit this for profits, that's the biz they're in.  I will though continue to recycle, walk instead of drive, hug trees, etc...either way, global warming or not, at least I know I have at least tried to respect Earth in my own little way.  Peace out!

  3. Hi Nuff,

I dont know about science, But i believe it to be part of Earths cycle, with melting ice bergs and rising sea levels. Last year two very large ice bergs had broken off in the Antarctica, and floated almost to New Zealand, before melting..A first sight for everyone... I was down there recently, not for the ice bergs, And one of the largest ice bergs down there (forget the name of it) had melted 50 metres, virtuely infront of peopls eyes, within a few weeks.. It is melting at a fast rate, also having ice breaking off and floating further out in the size of cars...When i say further out, the amount of ice that is breaking off, is floating further out to sea cause of the size of it...before melting...When we look at places that have towns under the ocean, i know of some off Italy, and a question Mr. P asked earlier about the pyrimads under the ocean, just off Japans coast... If you look at Tasmania, part of Australia, they say it used to be all joined up together, now its an island, cause of raising sea levels that covered all the low laying areas, which seperated the land, and became an island...And that happened thousands of years ago...Im no scientist, so i cannt give you facts, but when we look at other areas i think it may be a natural cycle

  4. You have your facts wrong.

The Antarctic ice cap is not growing.  It is losing ice as fast as Greenland (36 cubic miles per year, see the link).  There are a few spots where the ice is getting thicker, but this is misleadingly cited by "skeptics" to say the whole ice cap is.

  5. yes, I can read, but does that mean we should stop recycling, continue driving gas guzzling-emission spewing SUV's, stop solar energy, wind power,& hybrid cars ? Should we stop trying to save energy, cut down all the rainforests, and continue to waste away our natural resources...?

    What's your point?

  6. Hi Nuff,

I don't know enough about Global Warming theory to talk at length. However, the effort by scientists who have been working on it is far more expansive than something that could be planned by GE or other companies, in my opinion. Personally, I tend to believe that the Global Warming theory is mostly right, but as a skeptic I still maintain that it's possible it could simply be a normal, natural cycle. But even if it is, I'd still be in favor of following up with global actions to reduce greenhouse gases since it can only have positive effects on th environment.

By the way, according to all the research and all the scientists' data that I have read, the Greenland and Antarctic ice caps are melting and melting at an increasing rate, as opposed to growing. This is a unanimous finding by all scientific researchers studying the ice caps. However, I also found websites (not affiliated with any scientific organization or university, which I think is worth pointing out) which claim the Antarctic ice cap is growing, in complete contradiction. Until I know better, I'm going to go with the scientists on this one.

EDIT: No Nuff, you misunderstand me. All the scientific research I've read reports that both ice caps are shrinking. For example, the Antarctic is recently reported in the journal Science as losing as much as 36 cubic miles of ice a year (no link at your request). I find the peer-reviewed scientific research to be more credible than information reported on websites that aren't associated with a reliable scientific source.

  7. I've taken a look at it and still don't know.Whatever the reason I'm all for cleaner air. That puts me on the same side as Global warming activists.Although people like Al Gore,I don't like.Their ranting clouds the issue and hurts rather then helps.Don't worry about our planet. It will be here long after we're gone.Perhaps better off for our exit.
