  1. keep it refrigerated the warmer the more bacteria is attracted

  2. Room temperature is fine as long as you are careful not to contaminate the pour spout.

Never touch it with your fingers and never touch it to anything that isn't sterile (like a bottle that has been used).

Water contaminates easily and tap water is the worst, it is full of all types of microbes.

Not that microbes are necessarily a bad thing.

Being careful with an infant is good parenting, but don't overdo it once they get to be a bit older. Over-sanitizing is one of the causes of childhood medical problems like Asthma.

The developing child needs to come into contact with common bacteria and microbes on a day to day basis to develop a strong immune system. Using anti-bacterial everything on every surface in the home defeats this natural defense mechanism.

Common sense prevails naturally. You wouldn't let your child touch raw chicken but when they get older don't prevent them from doing a bit of playing in the dirt.

It does a body good.  :)

Hope that wasn't too much information. Just trying to pass on some things I learned over the years.

PS - Breastfeeding is also one of the best ways to pass on some natural immunity to diseases. If you are able to do it for even a short while that is the best thing you can do for your baby.
