A question about height...

Have you heard about how to tell how tall your child is going to be as an adult? Apparently if you measure your childs height at 2 and a half years old and then double it that is how tall they will be as an adult. I measured my daughters height at that age and she was 3"2 (she's fairly tall for her age still). That would make her 6"4 as an adult! we had a bit of a giggle as I am only 5" exactly, as are all the females in my mothers side of the family. Do you think there is any truth to it or just one of those funny myths?

  1. probably just a myth

  2. I have a bridge in brooklyn and some beautiful beachfront property in florida I want to sell you. It is really a good deal. And more real than your height formula. The other formula is to take her height in inches and double it and you have the mother's IQ. LOL. I DON'T believe in that one. Either. Just one of those funny myths. Wait to buy her bed. 8~)

  3. I'm pretty sure it's just a funny myth. My sisters were the exact same (said they'd be 6ft something) and they're about 5'7" or so. :)

  4. Thankfuull it is pureply a  myth, my 3 yr old has always been on the short side, if I doubled her height from 6 months ago, OMG she will be even shorter then me EEK and I'm only 5ft lol, her dad is 6ft 2.

  5. I heard that one too except it was their height at 2..........I still forget to check my childs baby book to see what she was in height at two (she is now 4), but if I did it I would definitely take it with a grain of salt. Remember that from your elbow (inside of arm) to your wrist is how long your foot is (true story) and from one index finger to the other index finger (arms stretched out wide) on the opposite hand is how tall you are......some things are true too, lol.

  6. nah just an old wives tale.

  7. There a few different ways to measure this, most of them come back to the mums height.  I found this one which I think is more accurate because it asks about your child as well as parents and we have taller people in our family.  pregnancyandbaby.com/childheight

  8. What I have been told, and it is fairly accurate is the height at 2 yrs and multiply that by 2 for a boy and 1.9 for a girl, and then its +/- 2".  So no doubt your daughter is going to be tall.  That puts her at 5'11" +/- 2".  So 5'9"-6'1" for her adult height.  Actually that is based upon her 2.5 yr. old height.  Most likely since kids this age grow 3-5"/yr. that her 2 yr. old height was about 36".  This would be 5'8" +/-2" or 5'6"-5'10".  Very believeable.  The average height of a 2 yr. old is 34.5 inches.
