Question:

A question about illegal immigration?

Why are liberals (and some republicans) okay with the fact that illegal immigrants are coming in and taking our healthcare and taking our jobs? And they are getting MORE support from the liberals than some actual U.S. citizens!

Shouldn't actual citizens come first?

  1. You should really do some research before making your accusations! nobody is taking your healthcare or jobs. The jobs are given to the person who can do the work the best, the person the employer can rely on, and the person they know will make less demands. As for healthcare, illegals aren't even eligible for government care, the only service they can recieve is Emergency Service. If employers paid them more or provided benefits, they wouldn't be visiting the ER as often. There are a lot more US citizens on welfare then there is immigrants, and they also have more doctor's visits to.

Facts About Immigrants’ Low Use of

    Health Services and Public Benefits

Low-income immigrants are less likely to receive means-tested public benefits than are low-income U.S. citizens. Immigrants’ low use of public benefits is not due solely to restrictions placed on their eligibility for various programs. Even immigrants who are eligible are less likely to receive benefits than U.S. citizens. This issue brief examines immigrant Key Findings

    ● Immigrants use less health care on average than U.S. citizens do, and low-income immigrants are less likely to receive public benefits than are U.S. citizens.

    ● Federal law imposes harsh restrictions on immigrants’ eligibility for various public benefits that do not apply to other residents.

    ● Immigrants make a variety of economic, social, and cultural contributions to the United States. Immigrants also are obligated to pay taxes that fund public services. For these and other reasons, they should have the same eligibility and access to public services as U.S. citizens.

    ● Opponents of immigration commonly frame immigration as a problem by using overheated rhetoric about costs of immigration — rhetoric that fails to acknowledge that the economic benefits of immigration far exceed its costs.

One purpose of the legislation is to prevent illegal immigrants from taking work away from citizens. At Turf Paradise, the consensus is that most American citizens have no interest in toiling for long hours as a groom, in some cases earning less each week than an unemployment check would bring. “You can’t get Americans to do this job, period,” Metzen said.

To prove his point, Metzen told the story of a man in his mid-20s who came into his office eager to embark on a career in the horse racing industry.

“This fellow pulled up in a $40,000 truck looking for a job. I sent him to see a trainer and in five minutes he had a job,” Metzen said. “After a few days of working all day and mucking stalls, he asked the trainer who would do his job on Saturday and Sunday when he was off. The trainer told him that he would. Horses have to be cared for seven days a week, so he had to work seven days a week. The guy left that day and never came back.

“Americans want to work five days a week, not seven. We’ve advertised all over to find backstretch workers, and we’re lucky if we get one or two. Congress seems to believe we can find Americans to do this work. Well, if they can find them, then please send them to us.”

  2. I just responded to a question similar to this. Here is what I wrote:

I work for the Health & Human Services Office here in Texas and I can tell you first hand that it is easier for illegal immigrants to receive benefits than a hard working American Citizen....and IT DISGUSTS ME. Let me give you an example:

A US Citizen goes to the Emergency Room with no insurance...they will be seen, but they will receive a bill in the mail for the services they received in the ER.

An Illegal Immigrant goes to the Emergency Room with no insurance..the hospital will set them up to speak with a Hospital Based State Worker who will QUICKLY get them on what we call here in Texas TP 30 Medicaid which will cover the complete cost of their visit. .....Umm...hello....how about that US Citizen who has paid their taxes and just got a bill that they probably won't be able to pay due to the astronomical cost of medical care?

I personally don't agree with them receiving any services. Heck, if I went to their country illegally, I would not get a darn thing.

Govt aid should be for US Citizens only ...no exceptions. This is not a racist statement, and I'm sick of people accusing US Citizens of being racist just because they don't agree with the benefits given to illegal immigrants.

My inlaws are from the Phillippines...they came here in 1967 LEGALLY. They never asked for or received any Govt Assistance. All of the others should follow their lead.

  4. I know the feeling. I am so sick of hearing people say "well if you live in such a small town that you caj't get a job, then you need to move to a bigger town." ok.. apparently, they dont' realize how much it takes to move. You cannot hire anyone to move you professionally (and if you have nobody to move you, you have to go that route ) for under $500 and depending on how far you move, could be up to $3000. How many people that do NOT have a job have that kind of money to  move and then pay for all the deposits,  first and last months rent,  etc. and everything involved with moving. then if you have kids, you have to deal with changing schools and s******g up their lives. People make it sound so easy. I moved a few years ago from a city of 50,000 to a city of 1 million. It took over $1000 to move (without moving any of my furniture) and do you know I still couldn't get a job.. and I tried.. I don't care how hard you try or how much experience you have, as long as illegals are here to take them,  you could have 100 years experience and you can't get a job.  You might be able to get a job at McDonalds for 10 hours a week at minimum wage but how in the heck is someone supposed to raise a family on that when you are used to making $600 a week.you can't.

and as for medical.. they DO get free medical and it's much better than we get. I went to ER with insurance and I had kidney stones.. I could NOT stand up and they made me sign a thing that said that I realized that it was not life and death and my insurance may not  pay and I would have to pay the bill. Illegals came in, got right back and nobody said a word about a bill..so anyone that tells you that illegals don't get better healthcare is full of c**p.

  5. They are taking the jobs that yanks don't want

How can you really think that people who must be always hiding from the police, the ICE, sheriff KKK arpai something and ALL the goons that are constantly hunting them can be doing that ?

Explain that in a logical way

About the health care, explain as well

You know, Bernanke makes a point. I was just thinking something like that. Why not go to the hospital, speaking Spanish and telling: "me no insurance, no papers" ?

Then  ALL OF US could go there for free, according to your words. There is a good thought

Let's bankrupt the health system all together

Then the government might think that something needs fixing

    To miss demeanor:

If you are so sick, disgusted, etc, etc, etc, etc, with all what you say, then why don't you tell bush, the governors, the senators, the representatives, the congress, and the Cabinet your opinion about that instead of ranting here

They are the ones responsibles for that, NOBODY ELSE !

  6. Absolutely - Citizens of THIS country should come first but we seem to have entered the "global community" that frowns on any successful nation not lowering their standard of living to accommodate other countries where the people accept living in squalor.  i say they accept it because there are few countries where the populous actually stands up and revolts against those problems.

You can see the "global" attitude in posts above me and all over this board.  People like greasytony feel that since illegals use slightly less health care then legal citizens that it is OK for them to steal it from the taxpayers.  If the stats said that illegals use more health care he would justify it as that the illegals NEED it more then we do.  There is always a justification for bad behavior:

    That murderer was on drugs.

The bank robber needed the money to eat.

The molester can't help himself since he's just sick.

    ETC ETC

The problem is that there is precious little CORRECT information out there on this issue and even less of it gets to the average taxpayer.  We need to educate everyone we know about the problems and costs of this issue.  When the politicians get pressure from us they will start to listen.

  7. Bring 'em in, treat their boo boo and then hold them for deportation.  Send them back to their country of origin!  I'm so sick of these people coming here by breaking the law then pi$$ing on America and what she stands for, that I could scream!  Get the heck out of my country!  I have absolutely no problem with LEGAL immigration.  Quit calling illegal aliens "immigrants"  They are ILLEGAL ALIENS!

  8. Legal citizens should come first!!!

    Deport all the illegal invaders!!!

  9. Yes actual citizens should come first and MANY Americans have had enough of the drain that illegals put on them. More and more U.S. tax payers are writing their congressmen and senator to voice their opinions on this matter because that is where change will start!

  10. U.S. citizens should come first, and illegal aliens should be deported.  Liberals love them because they see them as a new voting block.

  11. Absolutely us citizens should come first. I find that anyone in support of illegal immigration is either profitting from them, sleeping with one or are friends/family of an illegal.

  12. Miss Demeanor has a good inside detail of how the healthcare issue would work but i feel she is only telling half the story here is why;

If i go into the ER, (and i have) at no point in time they ask me what my immigration status was until later, if people know that illegals get it all for free, well dont we all have the incentive to pretend we are? how do you prove otherwise? its hard to prove you are a citizen, but illegal, thats easy, So i think its true that just because someone is illegal they get free care, do you see my reasoning?.

taking our jobs? dude come on, if you can use a computer and go on Yahoo answers you are not losing your job to Pablo...

theeeeeey tooooooook rrrrr juuuuubs!!! (sorry i just had to say that)
