Question:

A question about kittens?

I took in a feral kitten, and it's gotten a lot better. I brought him home 5 hours ago, and it's already sleeping in people's laps, and it'll even fall asleep in a basket while he's being carried. But as soon as it's on the floor, it runs away and hides, and is afraid of people when they try to pick it up or pet it. How can I get it to be less skittish? Does anyone have any tips for this? I'm a very patient person when it comes to cats, so anything will help, even if It takes a while.

  1. if you have only had him 5 hrs give him chance to adapt to you all,he obviously ok sitting on laps but if too many people making a fuss it maybe too much for him at the moment..let him settle and he will come round eventually.

their is a saying that a dog will come when called, but a cat will take a message and get back to you.

  2. Time...it just takes time, patience and love.  That's it.

    What a very LUCKY kitty...

I agree with the other person here.  The kittens eyes are changing.

  3. just be nice and dont try to scare it cuz my cat only feels comfotable with me cuz she knows me well, just dont pick her up and when she is being curious, leav alone when she is by you do not pet. only if she is on u physically or touching you should you start opetting she will fell safe and get more an more secure each time u do this hope i helped! good luck!

  4. sounds like he is doing ok so far just don't have to many people around him  till he gets use to the people and things in  your house give him a week till he starts to feel safe, also make a vet appointment as soon as possible and also ask  the vet about neutering

  5. These are my favorite to rehabilitate:)  I would suggest keeping him in a small room with a litter box and food.  Make frequent visits and always talk to him.  He will learn to trust you in no time and you will never know he was feral!

As for the eyes, all kittens are born with blue eyes.  They change anytime after about 6 weeks so you are probably noticing the change.  It probably wont stay that way:(
