We just got a 95 grand cherokee jeep.. the owner told us we can't lock the doors because the key that we use to start the jeep wont work on the doors? is there a seperate key that we need? if so where would we get it and how much would it be?

  1. I have a 95 grand cherokee and yes there is a separate key for the doors! Your best bet would be the dealer! But there are some locksmiths that can make you a key! On my cherokee, the ignition key locks and unlocks the back hatch but not the doors!

  2. The 95 Jeep Grand Cherokee did not come with separate keys. It had 1 key for both the door locks and the ignition. Here's what likely happened. The ignition cylinders on those years broke prematurely. Whoever replaced the ignition lock never bothered to have it keyed the same as the doors (probably a home mechanic or an inexperienced shop).

You will have to get a locksmith to make you a key for the door.
