Ok so my cats are puff and marvel keep l*****g and biting themselves. They do this all the time. First they start to l**k then they bite. I have noticed that there are these bumps on her and one on her neck from it and skin came off of it. It is SOOOOOOOO sad. What should i do and what do you think it is.

  1. My cats do that too, but on a much lower level. If they are seriously injuring each other, then lightly bap them each time you catch them doing it. Or, separate them by keeping them in different rooms. But that's a little cruel. Of course do what you have to for the benefit of your cat's health.

  2. Your cat is doing this because it is nervous. I know this because my my dog has the same issue and my step dad is a vet, and that's what he told me. If I were you I'd take your cats to the vet for more advise, and special medicine.

  3. bring them to the vet! the vet is the only one that could correctly assess and fix this problem.

  4. your cat may have a mild staff infection.

if you see flea dirt (dried blood) when  you bush him ask your vet for some revoulation to kill any fleas on your cat

  5. sounds like it might be fleas, I would give them a bath with flea shampoo (start on head & work your way down) and you will see the fleas if their there, if so you need to start them on medication asap & possibly use flea foggers in the house. (make sure you read directions)  good luck

  6. Did you recently change their catfood, or get a new food dish, or change something they use often? They may be having an allergic reaction to something. Also, you should make sure they don't have fleas.

I would suggest taking them to the vet as soon as possible to see what the actual problem is. In the meantime you could try getting some kind of medicated cat shampoo from the pet store, or hydrocortisone spray for cats (also at the petsore). It may relieve some itching.

The skin probably came off of the one bump because the cat scratched it so much. One of my cats has a reoccuring rodent ulcer (a bad sore on her neck and chin) and sometimes she scratches so much we have to put a cone around her neck to keep her from tearing herself up.

  7. ....

give the cat a flea bath (powder or water)... or flea collar

    most products eliminate various pests

(not just fleas.. also mites, ticks etc...)

if the bath or collar don't work..

take the poor thing to a Vet.

don't let it suffer... and don't let it cause ant more damage to itself

    good luck

  8. Well it sounds like they are cleaning themselves but if they have bumps you might want to take the to the vet because they might have an allergic reaction to something or a skin infection.

  9. thats how cats wash themselves. first they l**k themselves than they bite it to get under the fur. its like they are scrubbing themselves by biting. but the bumps on her neck and skin that came off can be a problem. i think you should wait a day and see if it gets better. put neosporin on it. i put neosporin on my cats when something like that happens to them. if it doesnt get a little better in a day or two than you should bring them to the vet.
