A question about new companies opening and companies doing better then ever.. ?

Question

What are some companies (ie. Walmart, Mcdonalds, SportsChek) that are booming right now? Doing better then they did last year?

And what are some brand new companies that just opened up and our doing really well?

First although the economy isn't as strong as it was it isn't nearly as bad as the newspapers and talking heads on TV would have you believe.

Next, the population is still growing and people still need things like food and clothes.  That alone will assure that some companies do better.

Many consumers are looking to save money because they believe things will get worse.  As a result they are shopping at Wal-Mart instead of Macy's and eating out at McDonalds instead of Appleby's.

It is almost impossible to name new companies that are doing well because most of them are still small companies.  For example a local sandwich shop opened a 2nd location in a nearby town and is doing a booming business.  Who knows, if they keep adding locations they might become a publicly held corporation and compete with Subway and Quiznos -- but it will be a long time before anyone outside of the immediate area ever hears about them.
