  1. when i fast i just dont eat meat for a few days, some people dont even eat fish and dairy products but i dont think that christians fast without eating at all. Plus i think that muslims are supposed to fast all day and eat at night

  2. The point of it is because its there religion and they don't not eat for like agess its only about 2-3 days and at midnight they feast, its just during the day that they dont eat.

  3. Well, you could die depending how long you fast for and how much you weigh.

And fasting started off as a religious thing to cleanse your body, but now it's just the quickest easiest way to lose weight.

  4. It's about the liver detoxing the system...it is helpful sometimes, but shouldn't go past three days..something we can all easily handle. You could go quite a while without food before you would die....without water you'd be gone in a matter of weeks...and it's a painful death...

  5. Fasting-- aka Anorexia-- is a way many people choose to get thin. Your'e right-- if they continue for long enough, they will eventually die, if not by starving then by a disease that the body is too weak to fight, such as the flu.

  6. people do it in an attempt to lose weight, in theory it works... but only for a temporary fix, and here's why...

cutting calories to anything less than 1200 is considered a starvation diet, especially if you are doing cardio. if you crash diet, you force your body into what is known as "starvation mode" whereby your body holds onto its fat and begins to burn muscle (which contain more nutrition and also contains more weight and energy, etc). once you lose muscle, your metabolism slows down as muscle requires more energy to sustain itself, which your body doesn't have cause you are effectively "starving". muscle is a more complex and heavier tissue, thus your body needs more energy to carry around the extra muscle weight. loss of muscle means your body no longer requires as much energy to sustain itself due to lack of muscle, and weight. eventually you lose so much muscle (and muscle weight) that your (unreasonably low) calorific intake will plateau (i.e. your body will only really require the amount calories to carry your weight around and so you will stop losing weight) causing you to have to decrease further.

if you break past your plateau, and once you have reached your "goal weight", and start eating normally again, your body will grab hold of all the food you take in and store it straight away as fat - thus, you have to continue to eat that way to maintain your weight which is unhealthy and unrealistic (this being why it is only a temporary fix)

that is what's called a "fad diet" and it will destroy your body =]

  7. Fasting is good if you do it for single day in week. More fasting is not good.

  8. Fasting is mostly a religious observance.  It is designed to have an individual focus on God.  The hunger you feel is a reminder of how you should hunger for God.

Most fasts traditionally involve not eating at all.  Some other include drinking water or juice, but not eating, and others simply restrain themselves from doing something or denying themselves a particular food to eat.

For those who are new to fasting they should try a meal or two, then try for one day.  I would not recommend anything longer than 3 days.

  9. some fast for religious purposes. some fast because they feel that they "clean out their systems" by fasting. some feel that they can lose weight by fasting. it all depends.
