  1. You have to look under the tail. If there's feathers, it's a male.

  2. It makes no difference what breed it is. First: Ignore the comments about p***s and v****a and whatever that was listed here.   We're talking about birds, not mammals.

Pigeons have a cloaca and that's it.  All sexual organs are inside the bird.

Behavior is the best way to determine which is a male and which is a female in pigeons.

Males bob and coo and spread their tail and dance in a full circle in front of the hens.  Males tend to be a bit larger and more "masculine" in look, though this takes some practice to discern.  Hens are slighter in build, sit the nest from about 5 p.m. to about 10 a.m. (the males sit from about 10 a.m. til about 5 p.m).

You've got some breeds that are fairly easy to tell apart.  Birmingham males are pretty agressive and ready to strut and dance at any opportunity around a hen.  Same with the Doneks - I used to love watching my dive and spin like bullets.  As for the Iranians, they tend to be a bit more mellow - at least mine were - but the males were usually a bit more "bull-like" in build than the females, at least in the family I had.
