A question about putting contacts on?

ok, so i'm getting my trial pair of contacts in 2 days, and so i've just been practicing touching the white part of the eye, and i can do so w/ out any discomfort/pain/blinking.

and yes, i wash my hands w/ soap and dry them before i touch my eyes so i don't cause an infection.

so my question is: you don't have to touch the black part of the eye to put contacts on, right?

and also: if i can touch the white part of my eye, will i have difficulty putting in contacts?

you don't have to touch your eyes at  all  when putting contacts in your eye.   Your eye doctor should give you  a lesson on how to put them in and have you do it a few times before you leave the office.

You don't actually have to touch your cornea( or pupil).

The contact is a barrier between your finger and your cornea, if you aren't afraid of getting close to your eye you are fine.

I have the same type of contacts, and I've had them for months.  I couldn't be happier with my vision either!

You don't have to put the contacts on the cornea/pupil of the eye.  What's amazing about the eye is that it's not completely spherical; it's more of an egg shape.  The cornea and your pupil are like the top part of the egg, and the contacts are made to fit over that specific part of the eye.  What happens is when you put the contacts in, it will gradually work its way to its proper place on your eye: the cornea!

What I do, is once I put the contact in the white part of the eye - that's right, the white part - I give it a little nudge to give it direction.  I blink a few times, close my eyes, roll them around behind my eyelids, and walk away.

You should never EVER touch the pupil OR the cornea.  You wouldn't guess it, but a THIRD of your whole body's nerves are in the colored part of your eye, whereas the whites don't have a single nerve.  What you feel when you touch your eye is the dryness of a spot on the eye, because it needs to stay moist to stay comfortable.

Put your contacts on the whites of your eye and let them float into place.

Just as a side note, I find it helpful to fill the contact lens with solution for extra moisture.

Putting contacts in is easy and something you just have to get used to although, they're not for everyone. Your eye doctor will help you take them in and out the first couple of times so you understand how to do it. I sometimes do end up touching my pupil, but you really can't even tell once you get used to it (took me about a week or so, but everyone's different). Hoped that helped and good luck! =]

You shouldn't have a problem.  When I got my contacts several years ago, the hardest thing was keeping my eye open while I put the thing in.  The first night I think I spent about a half hour trying to get the things out!  But after a couple days, I got used to it.  If you are already sticking your finger in your eye, then you should be ok.

You'll still have difficulties putting contacts in due to the fact that you are putting something on your eye!  They are somewhat obnoxious for about a week or so but then they feel totally normal (I don't notice them anymore!).  

Your life gets so much better with contacts.

No you don't. I put the contact on the white part of my eye and slide it on over. When I wore colored contacts, I blinked them into place. BUT I am not a professional, I don't know if the way I do it is healthy.

The easiest way to get a contact to stick on to your eye is to touch your pupil. The whole contact has to touch your eye at the same time in order for it to slide off your finger and on to your cornea (the clear tissue covering  your iris and pupil). If you can touch the white of your eye without blinking, your going to have no problem touching your cornea with a contact! The biggest problem people have is that we have told them for years to not touch their eye and then all of a sudden we are telling them that it's okay, touch your eye. You have gotten over the fear and hesitation and will do beautifully! Congrats!

You should be absolutely fine if you can but you may still be a little jittery at it. You don't actually touch your pupil, the contact does. You risk really, nothing.

Yes it's ok if you put your contact on the white part of your eye cause when you move your eye and blink the contact will move where it should be.  

Good luck with the contacts.  I couldn't wear them so I'm back to glasses.
