Question:

A question about "Made in China"...?

Here are some of the reasons why some people boycott products that are "Made in China": regulated currency (causes unfair trade), lead painted toys (causes neurological damage), poisonous toothpaste ( contains diethylene glycol), poisonous pet food (contains melamine), inhumane slaughter of untold numbers of cats, dogs, and other animals for fur industry (used mostly to trim coats and jackets), wasteful slaughter and ecological decimation of millions of sharks annually just for fins, trying to destroy the peaceful and non-threatening Tibetan culture. Can you think of anything else? In as much as it is possible, should people boycott "Made in China" to show the Chinese government that business as usual can not help them promote the summer Olympics in Beijing?

  1. i concur, bu i think it's hard to stop people buying cheap products

  2. Don't forget forced abortions, and also the common practice of aborting female fetuses (there are 30 MILLION more chinese males than chinese females).

They also have special mobil organ harvesting vans that patrol the prisons looking for freshly executed dead people to harvest kidneys and livers, etc to sell on the open market.

The chinese also have quack medicine that is decimating the ranks of tigers, rhinos, elephants and every other endangered animal you can think of so their pathetic puny penises can get hard.

  3. Oh really? Mind telling me why in celestial heavens name is China's trade increasing by the hundreds of billions (USD) every year??

    China's trade in goods surpassed $2.1 trillion in 2007, a 20 percent year-on-year increase.

Trade will increase in a fast yet stable manner as China optimizes economic structure, improves efficiency and lowers energy consumption.

China's total import and export volume amounted to $1.76 trillion in 2006, up 23.8 percent year-on-year. China remains the third-largest country in the world by trade volume.

The trade surplus continued to grow, reaching $177.5 billion in 2006.

Exports of machinery and electronic products and hi-tech products increased 28.8 percent and 29 percent respectively in 2006.

Imports of primary products reached $187.1 billion, up 26.7 percent, while imports of machinery and electronic products increased faster than the previous year, up 22.1 percent.

General trade - imports and exports of goods by enterprises in China with import-export rights - increased at a rate of 26 percent, 5.1 percentage points higher than last year.

Exports of privately owned enterprises surpassed State-owned enterprises for the first time, up 43.6 percent.

The trade volume of private enterprises was up by 36.3 percent, while the trade volume of foreign-invested enterprises increased by 23.3 percent, faster than State-owned enterprises.

Trade with foreign invested enterprises took in 58.9 percent of the total trade. Trade with the European Union, United States and Japan continued to grow, as did trade with emerging markets, including India, Brazil, and South Africa.

Trade volume in the first quarter of 2007 reached to $457.7 billion, up 23.2 percent, while the trade surplus nearly doubled to $46.4 billion from the same time last year.

Trade in goods increased by 27.4 percent from January to April, faster than processing trade.

WELL DONE CHINA!!! (you can boycott as much as you like; a bucket of water in the ocean)

  4. support for autocratic regimes (how can we forget about Chinese support to Sudan govt which is a carrying out genocide in Darfur)

  5. You would be surprised at the amount of things you use that are made in China. A brand name like Apple is an American one. But almost all their stuff is made in China.

To even suggest such a boycott shows a bad grasp of current economic realities.

China is not a threat to the world order and hopefully can be persuaded on issues like Tibet and the sharks fin issue.

It is a vast agent for change that can only improve the lot of many millions of people.
