If for example the bet at the end of the 1st round came to £50, then on the 2nd round, would the person that starts the round have to match 50? Or start a new bet?

  1. Depends on what you are playing.  Limit and no-limit have different rules on how a bet must be placed, and I can't answer without more information.

  2. In Texas Holdem (the most popular version played at the moment) the answer is no. At the beginning of each round the first person can "hold" the value of the previous round. If everyone holds then it moves to the next round. The moment any person in a round raises then everyone else in the round must either see or raise.

To the person that posted the previous answer, in Texas Holdem the "rounds" are called the Start, Opening, Flop, Turn and River, and culminate in the Showdown.

  3. Each round of betting starts new.

So if you were playing let's say £1/£2 blinds, then the big blind is £2, and this would be the minimum bet to open each round.

Pre-flop the player to the left of the big blind would need to call the big blind of £2 just to stay in the hand.  If one of the players raises to £50 then that is what needs to be called.  So let's say someone does that and there are two callers.  After the flop, the three players remaining can check, or one of them can make a bet.  This bet can be as little as £2.  The fact that the betting had gotten up to £50 in the last round is irrelevant.

Of course betting £2 into a pot of over £150 is pretty stupid, since you are giving pot odds that are so good it would be foolish not to call with any hand.

  4. 2nd round?

    what does round mean?

if you mean 2nd hand, no.

and if you mean after the flop, yes, in Omaha.

  5. the min bet would be the same each hand

example, blinds are 1/2, somebody raises to 10 and gets a caller

the flop comes up 942 someone is allowed to bet 2 if they want, they dont have to bet 10

if someone does bet 10 though, the raise would have to be at least 10 now.  but when the next card comes up the bet could go back to 2

    hope that helps
