A question about saudi arabia?

Question

as far as i know and other ppl who live close and from documentaries i have seen, saudi arabia is the country with the government to upholds islamic law most, woman totally covered and who are not allowed out, ppl who are stoned, hand cut etc... how can you say it is a good country.. and some of you also say it is not islamic... please if what i said is wrong tell me and explain exactly how things work there... you can't even enter the country oif you're a woman and not accompanoed by a brother husband or father.... i'm not saying anything but i want to understand

to Sulaimaan.. NO we saudi's do NOT get a monthly salary from the government.. GEE! I wish we did.. We dont share in the wealth of the oil.. that is a GREAT misconception... There are poor, lower, middle and upper class saudis as in every country..

Im saudi.. and the answers above are correct in the sense that you are generalizing about us and basing your info on western media hype..

We do go by Islamic law.. Gods law.. so who is best to set out a law? man or God?...

Women dont have to totally cover up.. Some choose to , some dont,

We dont stone people or behead people left and right like you think.. Frankly I dont remember ever seeing someone walk about with 1 hand.. The law is there, but its a deterant to anyone contemplating crime.. Our crime rate is low due to this.. Rare does these sentences happen.. and when it does.. its after a trial.. ..

I am a women, I come and go as I please.. I have american relatives in the States and I have traveled back and forth by myself many times..

We have women business owners here who conduct business meetings.. We have CEO's, airline pilots, doctors, lawyers, etc..all women..

a lot of what you here are misconceptions about our country due to unknowledgable media folks who dont bother to verify facts.. only hearsay here and there a snippet of info and they grow on it and run with it.. WRONGLY...

I also live in Saudi. It is kind of wrong info you get from the media which most are lies. Those westerners who lived parts of their life in Saudi Arabia say ' It is a country where you hear many things prior you go there..but once you live there, you cannot leave this beautiful place. It is very calm and safe for any male or female to live here.

they sure upholds the islamic law most but even with that it has AllOT of lairs pretending to be muslim or/and speak in the name of islam to harm muslims and give islam a bad name , the cutting thing  they don't do it anymore , how can you say that you cant enter the country if you don't have anyone with you all the maids come and go alone  without anyone with them, don't know what r u talking about i always travel without any man >

If you want to understand Saudi Arabian culture, the first thing you should do is stop judging them by the standards of the Western culture you grew up in.

The next step is to really study the country. Plenty has been written about it over the years, and the Internet is loaded with resources.

Wow, that's weird! My mom has gone abroad and come back several times alone. She's still gone abroad, and my dad is here. Mom intends to return alone. Many of my female cousins have done that too. And we're not Saudis.

Actually, it's not like it's protrayed. Saudi Arabia has one of the lowest crime rates. I can say that I want to live here since it's such a peaceful place as compared to other countries.

Of course, they have Islamic punishments (or I should say, they had them a few years ago) like cutting the hand of a thief and stoning an adultrer. Whipping of the unmarried fornicator etc. Not that I have ever seen anybody whose hand has been chopped off, since these punishments r meant to scare the majority, so that they will avoid these crimes. Very few people have the courage to commit them. They're not implemented as well as they were before, so the crime rate has increased, as compared to the past. Check this out:

Of course, women r allowed out! I go out almost everyday without my dad or brothers. And I wear a long gown and cover my head and face too, to be modest. Not 'cause anyone forces us to do so, but because it's a part of our religion, our beliefs. Muslim ladies do that in all parts of the world. U see Christian nuns covering up too. Of course, anti Saudis love saying that it's forced on women in Saudi Arabia, but that's really dumb. I wear a gown,scarf and a veil outside Saudi Arabia too.

However, the Saudi govt. expects all ladies to cover up respectably, and yeah, if u go out wearing skimpy stuff, u can get in trouble with the police. That's to prevent prostitution in the country, along with all the problems that it brings, like school girls getting pregnant, etc.

saudi arabia is NOT an islamic country. if it wouldn't be for mecca and medina in saudi arabia it would have been the worst arab land. in saudi arabia yes ladies are covered up in abayas but these abayas are = not wearing abayas. inside the abayas the ladies are literally naked.it had the shariya but now the cutting off the hand law is no more(4 theft) and the exicution(4 murder) is no more trhe stoning is no more. it is so very anti islam. it just keep the muslims and tells the muslim that praying 5 times fasting and giving zaka and doing hajj is enough. yes this is very important i agree but this duzn't mean that khilafa is not there in islam. it says that there is no politics in islam. any1 hu speaks about khiolafa is tortured and imprisoned. why??? no1 knows. and women anre not permitred without the husband,bro,dad thing is not true.

say what you want about saudi arabia...at least they have a universal health care system for their citizens.

and...atleast the saudi goverment shares the oil wealth with it's citizens. every saudi arabian citizen gets a check from the saudi goverment.

The reason why SA is an islamic country is because Mecca, and Medinah,

BUT, many things you see there are due to the Wehabbi people that govern SA. what you are seeing is Politics rather then islam.

If you Really want to know about islam, dont look at the followers, or the countries, look at the quraan.

read ahadeeth by the prophet, then you will understand islam.
