  1. the sperm could be effected by the STD contracted by the person.  That would be why a child would have a birth defect.  Gonorrhea leads to blindness.

  2. What?

There can be bacteria or virus in s***n, but the sperm themselves do not "carry" bacteria. HIV can be transmitted through sremen.

Please learn the correct terminology. Sperm are the reproductive cells in s***n. s***n is the liquid part of the ejaculate which contains sperm.

  3. No the sperm does not carry bacteria. If you are asking this because you are trying for a baby. All birth defects and associated illnesses would be carried by the genes. If you are asking because you are a germophobe then s*x is probably the last thing you want

  4. i dunno, there is lots of crazy stuff swimming in there :

  5. There may be non-STD bacteria in s***n, but I doubt any in the sperm.

Not bacteria here, but sort of related:

There are some "integrated proviruses" in the human genome, and therefore within the sperm cells.

Viruses are essentially little protein syringes that inject DNA or RNA into cells, usually hijacking the cell to produce more viruses, killing the cell to release them.

However, on rare occasions, viral DNA [or DNA reverse transcribed from viral RNA] does get into the nucleus and spliced into the chromosomes. There are several such fragments known in the human genome.
