Someone said that a Rib-eye steak and a Delmonico steak are the same cut. Is this true?

Also, does anyone know a good website about where the different cuts are from? (what part of the cow, I mean)

  1. No, ummm yes, umm ?! here's the story: Delmonico steak:  a mystery solved, http://www.steakperfection.com/delmonico...

    Here's 2 websites about cuts:

  2. The Rib Eye is a steak cut from a roast. If we took a prime rib roast and cut it into steaks before cooking, we would have Rib Eye steaks. These are tender, juicy, and expensive. This steak can be boneless or bone-in, in which case it is often called a just a rib steak.

According the Fabulous Foods Cooking School, the Delmonico Steak is a bone-in rib steak (not to be confused with the bone-in rib-eye steak, which is a different cut, as described below).

Made famous at Delmonico's Restaurant in New York, this is a large steak that is usually cut one rib thick and has a fair amount of marbling.  A bone-in cut, Delmonicos are usually between one and two inches thick

    Hope this helps.
