Do they attack hens, too???

I was wondering if a rooster like that would go after a weasel if he was used as a guard in a chicken pen.

I saw an animal shelter show on animal planet where a whole bunch on them were seized . They didn't tell the viewers if they get "put down" or not. I'm sure that they do get "put down" because I don't think that they'd make suitable pets, but I wonder if one would make a good guard for a chicken coop with a weasel problem.

  1. Usually Indian Rooster neither guard or attack for a hen, but if it get anger it may attack us. Not for the purpose of guarding the hen.

I have grown fighting rooster at my home. And i know it !

  2. No,they don't attack a hen.

Fighting roosters are taught to fight like that though there are some roosters that even on their own will fight like that in establishing their dominance. Some roosters just don't want another male around "his" girls.

If you will watch those films that show on TV about "c**k fighting",as the fight begins the owners antagonize the roosters by pushing them at each other and once those roosters get their adrenalin flowing the owners drop them on the ground and off they go.

Chickens are not really pet material, they are just chickens with the instinct to peck the ground, mate, hatch out eggs and p**p.They don't have the capability to be a pet like a dog or cat.

They are generally somewhat flighty, will run away from you should you want to pick them up,they just aren't really people friendly so to speak.

I doubt seriously if even a "fighting" rooster would chase off a weasel.

Roosters will mate with his hens,he will break up fights between the hens that fight for his attention and some roosters will literally attack humans in order to chase them away from their hens but other than that they aren't really that great of a protector.

I have had 4 roosters over time have yet to have a rooster that has protected his hens from skunks, cats, dogs or even rats but the roosters always seem to be OK when the dust settles from the hen house being invaded by unwelcomed animals though I may lose a hen/hens in the process.
